Indianapolis. FIELD WORKS is a collective of experimental pop musicians from around the globe. Projects are rooted in participatory research – audio field recordings, interviews, visual documentation – where the world itself becomes a recording studio. The group gets its name from the sciences, using observation and experimentation to create the narrative elements of a new kind of placebased music. The collective is led by interdisciplinary artist Stuart Hyatt, whose original field recordings made along a single street in Indianapolis became the foundation for the group’s debut album, The National Road.
