Megan McKinney is honored to be emceeing Indianapolis’ first TEDx event. After finishing her M.F.A. in acting at Indiana University (2000) Megan pursued an acting career was fortunate to be cast in several shows at the Indiana Repertory Theatre. Quite surprisingly, she discovered she had an even greater passion for arts administration.
McKinney enjoyed eight years in the marketing department of the IRT and then moved on to become executive director of the Fine Arts Society, Indianapolis’ only organization devoted to public radio broadcasting of classical music. A couple of years later she was recruited away to join the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre to lead its capital campaign as it relocated from Marian University to its current home at the Center for the Performing Arts.
McKinney will take a short break from marketing and fundraising to return to the IRT stage this winter in A Christmas Carol and A Little Night Music, and will be glad to join the business world again in February. She is originally from California and lives in downtown Indianapolis with her finance and their toddler, Ellie.
